Plus Dane Housing has signed a partnership with Vistry, the UK’s leading provider of mixed-tenure homes, for 206 affordable homes through a mix of rent and shared ownership to be built at their Leighton West site on the outskirts of Crewe.
The development also includes a further 200 homes that will be sold on the open market under Vistry’s Linden Homes and Bovis Homes brands and an additional 383 homes by Bloor Homes, taking the total development to 789 much-needed new homes for Cheshire.
The investment will see the creation of a new sustainable neighbourhood at Leighton West, forming a key part of Cheshire East’s Local Plan. In addition to the new homes, the new community will include a number of public amenities including allotments, community orchards, footpaths, cycleways, formal and informal play spaces, outdoor gyms and green corridors.
Siobhan Moore, Director of Growth at Plus Dane Housing, commented:
“We have really expanded our footprint in Crewe over the past few years with more than 150 homes in the near-by Alexandra Gardens development still being completed. We are excited about the Leighton West plans which include a variety of public facilities and interesting outdoor spaces. This new neighbourhood is going to be a vibrant place to live and bring up a family. We are delighted to be part of that vision.”
Joe Turner, Managing Director, Vistry Manchester and Cheshire East, said:
“Leighton West will not only address the local demand for high-quality housing, including affordable homes, but will also deliver a host of community benefits—from green spaces to new commercial, retail, and educational facilities—helping to create a vibrant, sustainable neighbourhood for Crewe.”
The development will also contribute £5.6 million to enhance local community services and facilities. This includes a new mixed-use local centre featuring community and leisure facilities, a pub, a children's day nursery, and a site for a new primary school. Additional contributions will fund improved cycle links, highway works, NHS support, and Travel Plan monitoring.
