We have helped customers secure nearly £200,000 in extra income, essential household goods, food and other necessities over the last three months.
We have in-house floating support teams based in Cheshire, Halton and Merseyside. The teams work with people who may be struggling to maintain their tenancies for any reason – from rent arrears and debt, to complex mental health issues like hoarding and substance misuse.
In Cheshire and Merseyside this assistance is only available to Plus Dane customers, but in Halton, the team is contracted by the borough council to work with anyone in the community in need of their help.
One of the main areas of the teams’ expertise is income maximisation, which includes helping people secure any benefits they might not have realised they were eligible for, grant funding towards things like furniture and white goods, fuel and food vouchers, and more.
In the three months from August to October this year, together the teams helped secure the equivalent of a phenomenal £194,294 of income for customers.
Kirsteen Smith, regional operations manager of our supported housing team, said: “We want every tenancy to be a successful one and being able to help customers claim the benefits they are entitled to, as well as other available support for basics like food and white goods can make so much difference to those who are struggling.
“Our floating support teams do so much good work to help customers, and through the cost of living crisis we are seeing more people in need of support. Being able to secure nearly £200,000 is a brilliant result that will help more people be able to stay in their homes.”
