Our partnership with healthcare charity Making Space has helped dozens of customers with personalised mental health support.
Since starting to work together 18 months ago, our Wellbeing First project has had more than 120 referrals, with the most people reporting improved mental health after using the service.
Wellbeing First is available to Plus Dane customers in Cheshire and provides friendly, one-to-one support to anyone concerned about mental health issues like depression, stress, anxiety, worry, or low mood. Sessions can take place over the telephone, on video calls, or face-to-face, over a number of weeks.
Specialist support workers can assist with wellbeing coaching, self-help, goal setting, personal resilience and more, and the organisation has delivered more than 400 coaching sessions to Plus Dane customers so far.
Customers have made contact with Wellbeing First themselves, or have been referred by a Plus Dane colleague working with them if they have shared that they are struggling.
One customer got in touch because they were struggling with low confidence and anxiety, due to money worries and a difficult family situation. The Wellbeing First support workers helped them complete a tailored Cognitive Behavioural Therapy module to help learn some coping techniques, followed up with support sessions to talk things through.
The customer said it had been a great opportunity to be able to talk to someone who understood, helping them to make sense of things and feel less alone.
Our strategic partnerships manager, Usman Ashiq, said: “We’ve had some brilliant outcomes through being able to refer customers who are struggling with their mental health to Wellbeing First and are really pleased to continue working in partnership with Making Space, who are such a fantastic organisation that are making a real difference.”
Sam Stockdale, Psychological Service Manager for Making Space said: “It’s been wonderful to have been able to provide so many Plus Dane customers with rapid access to mental health and wellbeing support since the launch of the project.
“It’s times like these when it’s important to have the help and support of people who understand the positive steps that can be taken to aid recovery. Our support enables tenants to improve their mental health, and ultimately achieve their full potential.”
Wellbeing First is for anyone who is currently living in a Plus Dane managed home in the Cheshire area, who is struggling with mild to moderate mental health symptoms, and who wishes to improve their overall mental health and wellbeing.
