Plus Dane Housing hosted a fringe event about the future of social housing as part of the Labour Party Conference.
The head office of the Liverpool and Cheshire-based housing association is in the Royal Albert Dock, directly across from the conference centre where the party was holding its annual four-day event, the first since coming to power in July.
The fringe event, Housing as a Driver for Growth, was organised by the Chartered Institute of Housing and included two expert panel discussions chaired by its head of policy and external affairs, Rachael Williamson.
Speakers included, Labour MP Dan Tomlinson, and Plus Dane chief executive Ian Reed; as well as Kate Parker of Procure Plus, chief executive of Grand Union Aileen Evans, and Richard Kennedy, co-founder of social enterprise Cornerstone Place.
The panellists discussed how the new government can achieve its aim of delivering the biggest increase in social and affordable housebuilding in a generation, and how this can create a fairer future in all of our communities.
This was followed by a Q&A session and networking opportunity for the 60 delegates in attendance.
Plus Dane chief executive Ian Reed said: “We were extremely proud to be able to open up our offices to host such an interesting and insightful event.”
The ‘Housing for Growth’ fringe event was organised and supported by Hough Bellis, CIH, Procure Plus, Grand Union, Cornerstone Place and Plus Dane.
