The two individuals, who both work for us, will be recognised at The Adults and Children’s Safeguarding & Dignity Awards, run by local safeguarding boards, for going the extra mile to protect the wellbeing of our tenants.
Andrea Drumm, a tenancy management officer, will be presented with the award for ‘Respect and Dignity’ after being nominated by colleagues. The nomination detailed the lengths Andrea had gone to to support one tenant whose growing mental health issues were beginning to severely impact her, her son, their home and their financial security.
Andrea said: “This was a very challenging and touching case to work on. I’m delighted to receive this award, but more significantly, the tenant now has a positive outcome, her tenancy is no longer at risk and both her and her son’s life are greatly improved.”
James Shackley, an electrician from Congleton, will be handed the ‘Special Recognition’ award after assisting police with an investigation, on behalf of one of his tenants.
Mr Shackley said: “Most of us working in the housing sector are motivated by providing the very best service possible to our tenants and make a positive difference to their lives. This involves looking out for them when things aren’t as they should be.”
The Adults and Children’s Safeguarding & Dignity Awards celebrate good practice in organisations, teams, individual workers or volunteers with regard to supporting and protecting adults and children at risk from abuse, harm or exploitation. The award winners will be announced at a celebratory event at Congleton Town Hall on Thursday 15th November.
Chief Executive Barbara Spicer CBE, said: “Plus Dane places great emphasis on safeguarding. Both individuals’ attitude and dedication to their customers is a great example to all in the housing sector. It gives me great pride as Chief Executive to know we have people like Andrea and James working in our organisation, going the extra mile for our customers.”
