The partnership between Plus Dane Housing and specialist social enterprise Pocket Power is saving customers money on household bills and other expenses.
Since teaming up with Pocket Power more than 18 months ago, more than 200 of you across Merseyside and Cheshire have saved a total of more than £60,000 on your bills.
After we connects you with Pocket Power, a simple phone call could help you reduce your outgoings by an average of £200-£300 a time, by helping to apply for discounts such as social tariffs, wipe utility debt, and switch phone, broadband, car insurance and banking bills.
Even after the initial call, which lasts around 30 minutes, Pocket Power can follow up to help you apply for new discounts, or make a switch when contracts run out.
Customers who have been helped by Pocket Power include Mark, who saved £583. As he was on benefits, he was eligible for social tariffs on his phone and broadband; Pocket Power also helped him lower his boiler flow temperature, to save up to £100 a year, as well as helping him apply for a water discount.
Cheryl was helped to apply for a discount on her water bills and set up with her water company’s trust fund to help clear her arrears. Pocket Power also gave her energy saving tips and recommended the government’s Help to Save savings account, which gives people on low incomes and extra 50% on all deposits (up to £50 per month). In total, Cheryl saved £363.
