3rd June 2019
The exhibition is now on display at Kingsway Library in Widnes until the end of June. Plus Dane co-ordinates the resettlement programme on behalf on Halton Council that has enabled the families to set up home in the area. It will focus on the personal experiences of the women as they settle into their new lives in Halton.
Laura Stanley our senior refugee resettlement co-ordinator, said: “What these ladies have lived through does not bare thinking about - we’re delighted to have been able to support them to settle into a new life here with their families. This exhibition is the culmination of their hard work and is a chance to share their journey with the wider community.”
Rowena Saunderson-Farrington, who worked with the women on the project, said: “We invited a number of Syrian women to take part in a six week photo voice photography project with the aim of encouraging them to explore and portray their personal experiences of resettlement in Halton. The project is also part of a Liverpool John Moores University MA research project.”
