Plus Dane Housing and Countryside Partnerships have celebrated the topping out milestone at our new supported housing development in Knowsley.
The scheme in Halewood, called Arncliffe Gardens, was designed by JDA Architects and includes 77 affordable apartments with facilities to support residents with care needs.
Once complete the development will include a guest suite, lounge, salon and bistro. Residents will also have access to on-site security and maintenance, support and catering services, as well as a therapeutic sensory garden.
Ian Kelly, Director at Plus Dane, said: “Everyday we see how important quality supported housing is - it changes lives and allows people to live safely and independently. We can't wait to open the doors at Arncliffe Gardens as we know there is big demand for this type of supported scheme in the North West.”
Ian Hilliker, Managing Director at Countryside Partnerships, said: “This is a significant milestone for Arncliffe Gardens and it means we’re on track to complete the new apartments by the end of the year. As one of the UK’s largest housebuilders, we believe it’s crucial to build homes in all tenures, and these new supported housing apartments will make a huge difference to those in the community with care needs.”
Cllr Del Arnall, Knowsley Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care said: “This development is a true partnership between Knowsley Council, Plus Dane and Countryside Partnerships to increase the provision of good quality, affordable Extra Care housing in Halewood. We have supported this initiative by providing the land for the development which will offer accommodation to over 55’s with a housing and support need, as well as younger people with additional needs, broadening our supported living offer.
“Our residents are very clear that they want us to develop alternatives to residential care, enabling them to live independently in the community for as long as possible. As a result we have invested heavily in Extra Care housing in the borough over the last five years ensuring residents receive the right support, in the right place, at the right time. This commitment will be continued in our plans for the future.”
The scheme is expected to be completed by the end of the year with the first residents moving in in early 2024.
