The annual Bromley Farm Community Picnic was a summer success, bringing residents together to enjoy food, live music and free family activities.
Mayor of Congleton, Cllr Suzy Firkin paid a visit to the event, that was organised by Plus Dane Housing and run on the day by a dedicated group of Bromley Hub volunteers.
Nearly 200 people joined in the fun.
The picnic was held outside the Bromley Farm Wellbeing Hub, which offers a wide range of free support services for local people including friendship groups, a luncheon club, stay and play sessions for parents and young children, cookery classes, wellbeing peer support groups and the hub is also the base for the Bromley Bloomers gardening club.
Plus Dane also supports the regular residents forum there, and the Bromley Hub Committee group which welcomes residents views to help improve the health and wellbeing of the Bromley Farm neighbourhood.
Usman Ashiq, engagement and partnerships manager at Plus Dane said: “Events like these do more than bring people together - they give us the chance to make every contact with residents count. Throughout the day, we chatted with customers, signposted them to support services, and helped strengthen connections across the community.”
Cllr Kay Wesley, Chair of Congleton Town Council’s Community Committee, said: The Community Picnic has become an unmissable date in the Bromley Farm summer calendar. It’s a great opportunity for local people to get together and enjoy food, entertainment and kids’ activities in a fun, informal setting. It’s also a no-cost and no-car-needed day out, and has transformed this part of town from a forgotten corner to a vibrant, happy place where memories are made. Many thanks to Plus Dane and everyone who put it together, and of course to everyone who came."
Cllr Susie Mead, chair of the Bromley Farm Wellbeing Hub group, said: "We know how to party on Bromley Farm, what a great event full of fun and laughter. We have a lovely community and it was a great chance to meet new people."
