Social Tenants Access to Information Scheme (STAIRS)

Making it easier for you to access information

A new Government requirement called STAIRs is being introduced to help social housing customers access clearer information about their landlord.

What is STAIRs?

STAIRs stands for the Social Tenants Access to Information Requirement Scheme. It is designed to make it easier for customers to find useful information about how their landlord works, performs and makes decisions.

The requirements have now been confirmed and will be introduced in two stages:

  • From 1 October 2026: social housing providers will need to publish key information about how they manage homes, make decisions and spend money.
  • From 1 April 2027: landlords will need to respond to written requests for information from customers within 30 days.

What this means for you

For Plus Dane customers, this means information should become easier to find, easier to understand and more consistent.

Over time, STAIRs will help you:

  • find important information more quickly
  • understand how services are performing
  • see how decisions are made and money is spent
  • see how we are listening to customers and acting on feedback

We will continue to update this page as STAIRs develops, so please check back for the latest information
